One of the duties of the Parish Council is to provide allotments if there is an unsatisfied demand in the parish. After considering several possible sites the Parish Council found a suitable site in the parish off Eccup Moor Road. This is farmland which is owned by Leeds City Council.
The Parish Council has leased this land from Leeds and has sub-let it to the Alwoodley Allotments Society which will run the allotments on the council’s behalf. Planning permission for the site has been approved by Leeds Council.
Work has started to make a new secure entrance to the site which will include off-road car parking, storage sheds and toilets. The Parish Council hopes the Allotment Society members will have their allotments for the 2017 growing season.
